“Into your hands I commend my spirit; you will redeem me, Lord, God of truth.” –Psalm 31:6

When the world gives you one story about who you are and how you should be, but you find that God’s plan intersects and is diametrically opposed to what the ego has built, you have the cross. To do God’s will, you must first “die” to who you thought you were. Only then can you become that “grain of wheat that that must fall to the ground and die before it can bear fruit” (John 12:24). That is what we have in Jesus’ death. It is no accident that Jesus died on a cross and not by some other method like stoning or sword. The symbol is clear. In the moment of his earthly death, life is flipped and we are given the chance to partake in the risen Christ.

It is no accident that Jesus died on a cross… The symbol is clear.

”Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Father, into your hands I commend my spirit’; and when he had said this he breathed his last.” –Luke 23:46

It is finished. Scripture is fulfilled. The Lamb is slain, body and blood offered for life of the world.

Color is symbolic in each of my Stations pieces: Red = Points of pain; White = Movement of the Holy Spirit; Blue = God’s presence; Black = the weight of the cross; Neutrals = Humanity.

Pray: For souls in Purgatory. May they be perfected and released to Heaven.

Action: Attend a weekday mass or pray Psalm 22, imagining you are gazing up at the Crucifixion.
